Ten years after Destiny’s Child parted ways, singer Kelly Rowland has revealed that she misses being a part of the famous 90s girl group.
In an interview during the SXSW (South by SouthWest) conference, the 35-year-old singer talked about missing girls groups and how everyone wants to go solo. “It’s what we’re used to right now. She also stated that it was time for another generation to see women coming together and experience the feeling of camaraderie. “I think it’s time for another generation to hear voices together. To hear the power of it, how exciting it is. How it’s a force on stage. That is something that is missed. Hell, I miss it” she added.
The mother of one revealed that this was the reason she was launching her own reality show series, “Chasing Destiny.” which is aimed at finding the next big girl group. She stated that she will be teaching up and coming artist all the lessons she learned as a member of Destiny’s Child.
Kelly also added that women who want to be apart of a girl group must possess confidence and be hard workers. She said, “They better be able to sing their butts off — and these girls can sing their faces off. And work ethic. I think the difference between Destiny’s Child and anyone else, we just outworked everybody. It’s the power of females. It’s the power of females coming together.”
Kelly hopes her show will remind people of how important girl groups are.
“Chasing Destiny” premieres on BET on April 5.
