Oscars 2016: Charlize Theron, Lady Gaga and Guiliana Rancic headline our best dressed list at Fashion’s Biggest Night Out.

From concert to award season, the weekend was super packed with well profiled events, but the 88th edition of The Academy Awards ceremony- popularly known as the Oscars, topped our list of events worth staying up for.

With a few exceptions, the red carpet started off on a rather uninspiring note that made me come to the conclusion that the idea of theatrical high fashion at The Academy Awards was gradually fading to the point of extinction.

In the midst of the world rooting for Mr Dicaprio and the red carpet catastrophe, I was still able to spot a few of Hollywood’s golden girls who brought haute couture to that carpet without holding back. Headlining our best dressed list today alongside many others is Charlize Theron in a red floor length dress by Dior.

Two words to describe Charlize’s look: “Smoking Haute”. Her take on old Hollywood glamor is so effortless and contemporary, you have got to love it. It’s a memorable dress, it obviously photographs wells and photographs even between 360 degrees, the color works, the fit is perfection, that extra train injects elegance into this look and I am mostly taken by how she opted for silver jewelry as to the cliché gold we have seen being paired with the color red.

Gaga brought the kind of drama worth our attention through the award season. If she wasn’t channeling David Bowie, she was bringing back memories of fashion icons like Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe. The Fame Monster and Oscar Nominee who almost topped our best dressed list before Charlize wiped her out in red, attended the event in a custom off-white gown suit by Brandon Maxwell. I love everything about this look. The construction, the color and how she made the garment the star by keeping every other style element muted. Gaga is pure sophistication in this custom number!

While the E red carpet presenter was spotted on the red carpet in a second dress by Georges Chakra, it is Mrs Rancic’s mustard dress that had me at first sight. Absolutely Stunning! Regardless of how I miss the dramatic intensity of volume and over-the-top syndromes famed with the Oscars red carpet, I love G’s complete departure from stereotype. She looks a vision in Mustard. The construction on that gown is architectural, the dress sits right, the styling is nothing short of brilliant and this has got to be my favorite glam look from Guilliana in red carpet history.

This is one woman that understands that it takes more than wearing expensive pieces to stay memorable on the red carpet! Her interpretation of glamor is always appropriately presented, it’s never too severe and it’s never underwhelming. Everything about Cate’s look to the Oscars is statement. Its very age friendly, creates a diversion from the expected, the pale blue color compliments her skin tone and the 3D effect on the floor length is just spectacular! Isn’t that what the red carpet about?

Mindy is a heavy dose of gorgeousness in this two-tone piece that flatters her beautifully, accentuates her shape to create a more profound, sandy-hour-glass figure. The dress is a stunner and more importantly connects with the red carpet rule of finding that one dress that photographs well all-round. The styling is very stated and polished at the same time. Definitely a best dressed nominee.
