7 Important Life Lessons From Olamide, Don Jazzy Clash At Headies 2015

Headies 2015 packed more punch than anyone expected and it wasn’t about the event itself.
Chaos unleashed itself on The HipHop World awards stage after Mavin starlet, Reakado Banks was crowned Next Rated over fan favourite Lil Kesh who is signed to YBNL.

All seemed to be well and good, until another YBNL artist, Adekunle Gold was given the award for Best Alternative Song.

The YBNL crew came on stage to receive the award and an obviously drunk Olamide used the opportunity to pull a Kanye West. In his words,“This award really belongs to Lil Kesh, because he is our own next rated, f*ck that shit. Iyalalya Anybody! Every f*cking song was a hit from Lyrically to Efe Joku”
The rapper continued to spew curses on the Headies stage while simultaneously throwing his middle finger in the air.

This obviously didn’t go down well with Mavin boss, Don Jazzy, who came on stage later on to receive the award for Special Recognition.

Don Jazzy reiterated that he had rejected his own award prior to the event, demanding it be given to D’banj in his stead. He also revealed he told his Mavin “Children” to ignore the award with a promise that he would buy them their own cars. He concluded his speech by saying “Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come and collect it”

Olamide subsequently took to the streets of twitter and began tweeting a series of rants directed at Don Jazzy. The rants accused him of destroying D’banj’s career and holding back his other label members. He also threatened Don Jazzy from ever coming to Lagos Mainland.

We are unsure who will take the Next Rated crown and the car it comes with now, but we know for sure, this is the beginning of another industry-defining beef. However, here are 7 quick lessons to learn from this debacle:

#1 If the sub is not your own, don’t ever ever catch it. Ever.

#2 Pray you’re not Kiss Daniel or Cynthia Morgan on the day elephants like YBNL and Mavins clash.

#3 If Dr. Sid, Di’Ja, Korrede Bello and Reakado Banks are still someone’s “children”, you’re allowed to still live off your parents.

#4 Loyalty over everything else. You must follow the steps of Baddoo and stand up for your own, even when you’re blind drunk. The same way Don Jazzy stood up to speak when he felt his family had been slighted.

#5 Let your work speak for you. Lack of recognition doesn’t mean you’re not good at your craft. If your work is good, it will speak for you.

#6 Don’t drink and drive your mouth recklessly, always think before you speak.

#7 Pick your battles, you can always live to fight another day; one slip up and you cou
